About The Position

The Electrical & Control System Engineer is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for and deliver results with in a broader technical team. Electrical Control Systems Engineers support day-to-day troubleshooting operations and drive productivity by implementing new construction projects and engineering better process control for ongoing processes. The successful candidate will join other Electrical Control System Engineers integrated within a broader technical team including experienced process chemical and mechanical engineers.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience with demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively as an electrical engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment selection/specification, calibration and troubleshooting
  • Working Knowledge of DCS, PLC or single loop controllers
  • Thorough knowledge of E&I drawings including electrical schematics, logic diagrams and P&I diagrams
  • Working knowledge of HMI interface programming & modification
  • Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives and three phase motors
  • Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated and have great attention to detail
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to learn and work independently
  • Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution systems
  • Understanding of Safety and process interlocks, PFD calculation
  • Knowledge of electrical standards and Process Safety Management (PSM) process and value for safety rules and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably knowledge of Honeywell, or ABB DCS's & Allen Bradley or Modicon PLC's
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Six Sigma or reliability analytical tools

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and improving electrical distribution infrastructure
  • Developing solutions to process problems
  • Identifying and implementing improvements
  • Leading teams and/or projects for longer-term improvements
  • Identifying, developing the scope, and leading minor capital improvement projects
  • Maintain and provide technical support for electrical distribution system, including AC and DC power
  • Develop and manage reliability program for electrical equipment, including specific work and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Develop Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configuration and programming, troubleshooting, for existing operations and capital project implementation
  • Manage process Alarm Systems and interlocks
  • Troubleshooting process issues & providing technical support to the operations team as required
  • Support, develop and implement strategies for improving instrumentation and process monitoring equipment
