About The Position

PEMCCO is seeking qualified candidates for an Electrical Construction Inspector opportunity supporting transportation, transit, rail, and infrastructure projects in the Baltimore area. Inspectors provide field observation, documentation, and contractor oversight support while working alongside project managers, engineers, contractors, and client representatives. Experience with transportation systems, communications infrastructure, CCTV, access control, networking, fiber optics, testing, and commissioning is highly desirable. Retired inspectors, field engineers, electrical foremen, construction superintendents, and other experienced construction professionals seeking flexible project-based work are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, construction inspection, field engineering, QA/QC, telecommunications, systems installation, or a related industry
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Baltimore area
  • Ability to work independently and maintain detailed field documentation
  • Ability to work on an on-call, project-based basis

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on transit, rail, highway, utility, airport, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of communications systems, CCTV, access control, networking, fiber optic systems, or intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
  • Experience with testing, startup, commissioning, or systems integration
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Electronics Technology, or a related discipline
  • Applicable electrical, construction, inspection, or safety certifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor electrical and systems-related construction activities in the field
  • Verify work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Document daily construction activities, progress, issues, and site conditions
  • Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain project records
  • Identify deficiencies or non-conforming work and communicate findings to project leadership
  • Maintain inspection logs, photographs, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and client representatives
  • Support project quality assurance and quality control initiatives
  • Observe testing, startup, and commissioning activities when applicable
  • Work safely in active construction environments
