About The Position

Orbital is seeking an Electrical Construction Coordinator with Electrical Transmission, Distribution, or Substation experience to join the Electric Services Construction Coordinator Program based in Eastern Pennsylvania. This role involves planning and coordinating construction activities for a designated project to ensure project goals are met within schedule and budget constraints. Each Coordinator is assigned to one specific project for an extended period, with project areas potentially located anywhere within the client’s Electric Services territory. Assignments are based on geographical location, skill level, and experience.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 Years Relevant Construction / Maintenance Experience
  • Must exhibit strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Must be competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe).
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to frequent construction sites.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test.
  • Subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Similar preferred
  • Experience in Commercial / Industrial T&D or Experience in Management Preferred
  • May have a background in structural, mechanical, or electrical (preferred) construction / engineering but must at a minimum be familiar with construction prints/drawings.
  • OSHA 10 hour and MEA specific training is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety oversight and ensure compliance with all safety procedures at site.
  • Report safety compliance issues and safety incidents to the client's construction manager and Orbital supervisor.
  • Work with construction supervision and on-site safety personnel to stop unsafe construction activities.
  • Participate in construction activity planning, pre-construction drawing reviews, and overall constructability reviews.
  • Inspect construction site and complete pre-construction checklist tasks.
  • Ensure necessary permits and site/job specific plans are in place, signed, and posted at the job site.
  • Inspect work during construction to ensure safety and environmental policies are followed and that the project is constructed per applicable specifications, drawings, and permits.
  • Manage communication with construction crew(s), client project manager, and engineering to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) that may inhibit construction progress.
  • Identify field-purchased material needs and communicate them to the client Construction Manager in writing.
  • Order materials and rental equipment as necessary and coordinate deliveries.
  • Inventory materials and identify shortages to prevent schedule delays.
  • Prepare Daily Log Reports detailing project progression, schedule deficiencies, completed construction activities, safety incidents, and compliance with specifications/drawings.
  • Maintain redline construction drawing markups.
  • Complete weekly safety audits.
  • Communicate scope changes.
  • Confirm utility locates.
  • Sign crew timesheets.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
