About The Position

The Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for all aspects of commissioning for Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator/Syncon (Project Dependent), and Auxiliary equipment for electrical systems. This includes medium voltage systems up to approximately 20kV, and high voltage systems at the primary winding of the Generator Step-Up (GSU) transformer. The scope of work extends to the high-side terminals of the GSU. The role requires 80% of the working day to be spent in the field, directly engaging with the Customer and/or EPC Constructor/3rd Party on commissioning activities, with the remaining 20% dedicated to administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge, experience, and understanding of the Single Line Diagram (SLD) and 3 Line Protection Diagrams.
  • Detailed knowledge, experience, and understanding of Electrical schematics and cable schedules/cable installation sequences, including the procable system.
  • Detailed knowledge, experience, and implementation/verification of the electrical protection equipment and settings, electrical protection fault sequencing, synchronizing equipment and circuits, and associated electrical interfaces to the DCS control system.
  • Experience with the PTW Procedure and assuming responsibility for the isolation of electrical equipment.
  • Experience with Back Energization of the high/medium voltage electrical system to the Generator Step-Up Transformer.
  • Experience with pre-synchronous and initial synchronizing testing and commissioning execution activities.
  • Experience interfacing with SFC/SEE Engineers.
  • Experience assisting Customers and/or Constructors with interpretation of drawings, processes, and manuals.
  • Experience maintaining up-to-date “As Built” drawings and specifications.
  • Experience ensuring commissioning documentation is updated and signed.

  • Experience with Siemens Energy supplied equipment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review and comment on the Customer and/or Constructors' commissioning schedule and work sequence as it pertains to electrical commissioning activities.
  • Perform walkdowns and acceptance of Siemens Energy supplied equipment systems.
  • Implement and verify electrical protection equipment and settings, electrical protection fault sequencing, synchronizing equipment and circuits, and associated electrical interfaces to the DCS control system.
  • Interface with the PTWO (Permit to Work Office) and assume responsibility for the isolation of electrical equipment for systems they own, utilizing and understanding the PTW Procedure.
  • Commission the protection interfaces between the Generator and Switchyard.
  • Commission Siemens Energy supplied transformers and switchgear.
  • Perform Back Energization of the high/medium voltage electrical system to the Generator Step-Up Transformer.
  • Execute pre-synchronous and initial synchronizing testing and commissioning activities.
  • Interface with the SFC/SEE Engineer to ensure all interfaces between the Electrical and SFC/SEE systems are tested and verified.
  • Assist the Customer and/or Constructor with interpretation of Siemens Energy supplied drawings, processes, and manuals.
  • Act as an interface between the Site and Siemens Energy engineering for the resolution of any non-conformances or issues identified during the commissioning sequence.
  • Maintain up-to-date “As Built” drawings and specifications related to the Gas Turbine, Generator, and Auxiliary Equipment.
  • Ensure Commissioning Manuals, Commissioning Procedures, Check Lists, Protocols, and Commissioning Completion Certificates are updated and signed as commissioning works progress.
