Electrical CAD Designer

About The Position

The Electrical CAD Designer will work alongside a team of engineers. You'll be responsible for creating drawings and simulations using software tools and resources supporting our clients’ overall project goals. As a vital member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that focus on building electrical design, including lighting, power and systems coordination within a wide range of power plant technologies such as; gas powered generation, biomass, municipal waste, hydrogen production and applications, carbon capture, BESS, hydro, wind and solar. Subject matter expertise is less important than the ability to lead and execute complex projects.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of electrical One-line diagrams, circuit diagrams, cable routing and knowledge of the NEC.
  • Substation physical layout and electrical clearances.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and to coordinate the work of various engineering disciplines and contractors to complete an integrated project.
  • Mastered detailing skills and demonstrated basic knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
  • Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Routinely uses higher-level commands, time saving programs and routines.
  • Drafting on industrial projects that include one-line, three-line, schematic, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Utilizing and following specific codes (NEC), reference material, CAD standards, and the ability to use application software effectively with a high level of detail and accuracy.

  • Interpreting engineer’s notes and sketches and creating detailed working drawings.
  • Multi-tasking and working under strict deadlines.
