This role is responsible for all electrical and automation activities during the assigned shift, including planning, managing, and executing projects, procurement, and technical specifications. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical, automation, MES, and digital systems, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting, and training. The role also involves programming support, commissioning, and ensuring environmental and operational safety.

Requirements

  • Electrical & Automation engineering experience required in a manufacturing facility in the Food and Beverages industry, or other Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • High proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Good organizational/administrative and self-management skills to complete objectives.
  • Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Great collaboration mindset and participation in engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive thinking, strong troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of local electrical codes, standards and any processing operations and technology.
  • Understanding and experience with power distribution in industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Calibration process and process automation.
  • Good knowledge of automation systems and equipment (HMI - Human-Machine Interface, PLC Programmable Logic Controller, Industrial networks, etc.).
  • Experience in troubleshooting basic electrical control systems.
  • Extensive experience in Rockwell hardware and software applications (Studio5000), Wonderware In Touch and Middleware.
  • Awareness of FDA & GMP/GAMP regulation and validation in the pharmaceutical or food industry.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years experience as a Plant Electrical or Project E&A Engineer in a Food industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems (low, medium and high voltage installations).
  • Experience with Wonderware Intouch/Archestra systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems and SAP.
  • Knowledge in applicable standards and regulations: ISA 4.1, S88.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and execute electrical and automation projects, including procurement and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical, automation, MES, and digital systems.
  • Provide technical expertise, troubleshoot issues, and train factory operators and technicians.
  • Perform programming support and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure environmental and operational safety in all areas of responsibility.
  • Enhance technical skills through ongoing learning and training programs.
  • Assist in creating technical materials for personnel operating/maintaining E&A equipment.
  • Participate in competency assessments and identify areas for improvement.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of processes and provide support identifying improvements.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement solutions to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Contribute ideas to protect technological know-how and competitive advantage.
  • Support the implementation of maintenance strategies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Utilize digital technologies to drive reliability and process improvements.
  • Ensure E&A installations comply with safety, health, environment, and quality standards.
  • Support the maintenance of up-to-date E&A documentation, including electrical drawings.
  • Manage change processes for modifications involving E&A systems.
  • Participate in factory sustainability objectives, including energy and water savings initiatives.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of results from improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive sustainable practices within the organization.
  • Learn about the factory's asset portfolio to identify end-of-life and replacement requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining awareness of asset conditions for capital planning purposes.
  • Support decision-making processes considering asset performance and cost competitiveness.
  • Assist in the execution of capital investment projects involving the E&A area.
  • Follow corporate and market standards while working on technical solutions.
  • Contribute to project teams to ensure delivery with expected quality, schedule, and budget.
