About The Position

DSG is seeking an Electrical/Automation Controls Engineer in our Sioux Falls, SD Automation location. In this full time, salaried position, work is typically performed between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, but may vary on occasion according to business needs. As an Electrical/Automation Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for all DSG locations by using your strong technical aptitude and knowledge of industrial electrical controls and processes to visit with customers to determine their needs and what DSG could be able to provide or assist. This role provides quoting to customers on panel shop builds, and may require field support to perform logic controller programming or variable frequency drive programming to fulfill customer needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering and relevant experience OR 5 years of experience working with industrial electrical controls and processes
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge on VFD's as well as the operations and applications
  • PLC/HMI knowledge required; Schneider PLC/HMI preferred
  • Active listener
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Superior problem solving, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to function independently making sound business decisions to grow profitable sales

Nice To Haves

  • UL508 experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, plans, and requirements to prepare quotations conveying price, delivery, and technical information to customers.
  • Value engineer projects to position DSG as the preferred supplier.
  • Facilitate an entire job from bid to completion.
  • Follow up with sales and quoted customers to determine awarded project contractor to secure the sale of the project.
  • Prepare and assemble submitts for approval.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with manufacturers and vendor representatives.
  • Project a positive, professional image of the company in all communications with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Stay current with product updates and code changes.
  • Assist with Inside Sales phone coverage, as needed
