About The Position

The Electrical Assembly Technician is responsible for refurbishing wind turbine and renewable energy production components. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to safely and effectively carry out both electrical assembly and production testing in a manufacturing environment, while upholding a strong culture of safety and adherence to all protocols and procedures. This role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA at the Clipper Windpower manufacturing facility, a company owned by Longroad Energy. Job Purpose The Electrical Assembly Technician is responsible for refurbishing wind turbine and renewable energy production components. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to safely and effectively carry out both electrical assembly and production testing in a manufacturing environment, while upholding a strong culture of safety and adherence to all protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in a technical or electrical field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with AC/DC power systems and electrical measuring equipment
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical PPE protocols
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing shop environment

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Assembly Assemble electrical wire harnesses and cable assemblies using hand tools
  • Build electro-mechanical components and subassemblies, including those used in high-voltage and high-current AC/DC systems
  • Inspect and peer-check electrical installations for accuracy and functionality
  • Interpret and follow schematics, diagrams, work instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements for electrical work Production Testing
  • Install gearboxes, generators, inverters, rectifiers, and other components onto test stands
  • Operate test stands to perform rigorous evaluations of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Use electrical test equipment (e.g., volt-ohm meters, megohm meters, micro-ohm meters, current clamps, hi-pot testers) to verify system performance
  • Capture and input test data into digital systems; generate pass/fail reports
  • Prepare completed test articles for transfer to assembly or shipping departments
