About The Position

At Okuma America Corporation, innovation and precision drive everything we do. As an Electrical Assembler, you will play a critical role in supporting our distributor network and Retrofit Development Team (RDT) by building high-quality electrical retrofit kits that help customers maximize the performance and longevity of their CNC machine tools. These kits are used to upgrade newly installed machines and retrofit existing equipment in the field. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys electrical assembly, working with detailed technical documentation, and contributing to solutions that support advanced manufacturing technology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and bills of material (BOMs).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete ERP transactions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, wire strippers, crimp tools, soldering iron.
  • Strong electrical skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Proficient use of hand tools and variety of electrical devices.
  • Basic use of PC tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional listening skills.
  • Exceptional ability to speak and write effectively in a business environment.
  • Exceptional ability to ask necessary questions.
  • Good Attitude, ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to sit continuously for approximately 1/4 of normal work shift, and stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 3/4 of the normal work shift.

  • Ability to stoop, crouch and reach.
  • Ability to talk or hear continuously.
  • Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 3/4 of the normal work shift including operating a phone, computer/ electronic equipment, tools, wire strippers, crimp tools, soldering iron, a pallet jack, and a forklift.
  • Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties.
  • Driving record that is insurable.
  • Live within a commutable distance of the corporate office.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school education in Electrical Technology or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant electrical assembly experience.
  • Experience assembling electrical panels, harnesses, or industrial control components.
  • Familiarity with electrical tools, crimping equipment, and wiring standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review incoming orders and print all required documentation, including installation manuals, labels, and wire identification (namer) tubes.
  • Cut wire to the appropriate type, size, and length according to wiring specifications and identify each wire using the corresponding namer tubes.
  • Crimp the appropriate terminals onto wires and perform pin insertion in accordance with wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and bills of material (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to resolve technical issues, clarify requirements, and troubleshoot assembly challenges.
  • Mount, label, and assemble electrical components on sub-panels according to engineering documentation, then connect pre-assembled electrical harnesses to complete the assembly.
  • Package completed assemblies and accurately process all required ERP transactions before transferring kits to the RDT department for installation or to the warehouse for shipment through the distributor network.
  • Adhere to all company employment policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and proactively seek opportunities to add value and support continuous improvement efforts.
