Setup operator ensures continuous production flow by preparing, loading, and staging component reels onto feeders and pick-and-place carts. The role minimizes line downtime and prevents placement errors by ensuring the correct parts are installed accurately before a job starts. Accurately load electronic components into the correct feeder sizes and pitches according to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and setup sheets. Double-check component values, part numbers, polarity, and quantities against job documentation before handing feeders over to machine operators. Prepare and stage feeder carts for upcoming production jobs while the SMT line is currently running to reduce machine downtime. Inspect, clean, and perform basic preventative maintenance on feeders to prevent mechanical jams or misfeeds during production. Account for all materials received from the stockroom, print part labels, and return unused components correctly. Strictly adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) guidelines and handling procedures for sensitive electronic components.
