About The Position

This role involves working as an Electrical Apprentice across various levels (1-5) in Alberta. The apprentice will be responsible for a range of electrical tasks on commercial/industrial construction sites and in operational facilities. Key duties include safe installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, adhering to all health and safety policies. The position requires the ability to interpret technical documents, prepare layouts, and perform various electrical tests and installations. The role also demands physical capability for tasks such as pushing/pulling cables, working at heights, and operating tools and equipment. Travel within Canada and willingness to work shifts and overtime are essential.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma, high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Registration in the Construction & Maintenance Apprenticeship Program
  • Demonstrate high accountability and sense of ownership.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision and to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate reliability in completing tasks within established timelines and parameters.
  • Demonstrate effective and efficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a valid full class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Access to transportation to get to and from jobs independently.
  • Able to distinguish colours used to identify electrical components.
  • Must be able, willing, and available to work nights/overnight shift.
  • Must be able, willing, and available to work overtime.
  • Must be able, willing, and available to travel to customers sites on short notice over extended periods of time within Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe manner, observing all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Read and interpret diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare layouts for machinery and controls.
  • Install underground wiring and surface mount and/or overhead cables.
  • Install, replace, and repair electrical distribution and utilization equipment.
  • Properly splice, terminate, and label conductors.
  • Test and measure voltages, ampacities, insulation integrity, continuity, and other electrical characteristics.
  • Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems, and structures.
