About The Position

The Electrical Apprentice will assist in achieving the company's strategic objectives and annual goals through the delivery of exceptional service and support, reflecting Hiller Plumbing Heating Cooling and Electrical's vision, mission, purpose, and values. This role involves creating a positive customer experience, assisting with electrical inspections, repairs, and replacements, and ensuring all work complies with applicable codes. The apprentice will also be responsible for transporting materials and tools, maintaining the service vehicle, and documenting all services and fees. A key aspect of the role is to protect the customer's home from damage and leave it cleaner than found. The apprentice will also be responsible for informing team leads or managers of any safety issues or if a customer lacks electrical service before leaving a call.

Requirements

A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
A valid driver’s license and approved to drive by Company’s insurance carrier.
Must be highly organized with good attention to detail and follow through.
Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
Team player working in a team environment.
Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read a map or follow GPS.
Work in outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures and weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) at least 50% of the time.
Climb ladders and steep stairs. Majority of time spent standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching. Often works in tight spaces such as attics and/or crawlspaces.
Able to lift 50 pounds with ability to push, pull, carry, or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices).
Occasionally work from heights up to 15 feet above ground.
Able to carry 24-foot extension ladder alone and/or 40-foot extension ladder with a fellow co-worker on most jobs.
Have good visual acuity.

Nice To Haves

Pursuing State Electrical License preferred.
One to three years’ experience preferred but not required in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse electrical service issues.
Willing to attend training class to advance his/her skill.
Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule, when needed.
Maintain confidentially on all private, sensitive, and proprietary business issues and concerns.

Responsibilities

Create a positive customer experience.
Assist in performing a thorough and accurate electrical inspection including Health and Safety Checklist and communicate findings to the customer in a written option sheet.
Assist in completing all electrical repairs and replacements to applicable code.
Assist in the completion of all required documentation on services and collects, records, and delivers fees to office administration.
Transport materials and tools to the job site and provide proper accounting of assigned tools.
Keep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventoried.
Follow state and local laws and regulations and adhere to local building codes.
Assist in preparing a detailed finding report with pictures for the Team Lead to discuss with the customer.
Present repair options to include cost using the options sheet.
Assist in recording all material used or consumed on the job for job costing and replenishing.
Understand when to issue a “Lock Out/Tag Out” tag and the required follow-up steps.
Protect customer's home from damage while working and leave customer's home cleaner than when you arrived.
Inform a team lead/supervisor/manager if the customer does not have electrical service before leaving the call.
Informs team lead/manager or team leader of any safety issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
