About The Position

As an Electrical Apprentice lays out, inspects, assembles, installs, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical fixtures, apparatus, control equipment and wiring for industrial electrical systems, as well as equipment and systems such as motors, generators, wiring systems, lighting systems, and motor drives under direction of a Licensed Journeyperson. Follow electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications. Use hand tools, power tools and electrical and electronic test equipment.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-based environment.
  • Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking skills and deal with a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Must be well organized and able to work under direct supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be a registered electrical apprentice third year or higher preferred.
  • Have a working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Journeyperson and maintenance personnel as directed to gain knowledge and skills as required. Use electrical PPE as required.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, motors and position sensing devices.
  • Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Install, diagnose, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components using hand tools.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance programs. Inspect equipment as per policy requirements.
