About The Position

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer ⚡ Bakersfield, CA | Full-Time Ready to work on projects that actually make an impact? We’re looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join a multidisciplinary consulting team tackling complex challenges across energy, industrial, infrastructure, and environmental projects throughout California’s Central Valley. This is a hands-on, design-forward role for an engineer who enjoys seeing their work move from concept → design → field execution .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • EIT required
  • 3+ years of experience in E&I, controls, or power systems engineering (consulting or industrial environment).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC , and California code requirements.
  • Comfortable balancing design work, client interaction, and field involvement.
  • Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • California PE preferred or ability to obtain.
  • PLC familiarity (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience in water/wastewater, energy, oil & gas, utilities, or manufacturing.
  • Hands-on commissioning or startup experience.
  • Exposure to renewable energy, substations, or power distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with California permitting and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for industrial and infrastructure facilities.
  • Develop drawings, specifications, schematics, loop diagrams, and cable schedules for power, controls, and instrumentation systems.
  • Engineer MCCs, VFDs, PLC/DCS architectures, grounding systems, hazardous area classifications, and field instrumentation.
  • Perform electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, coordination, and cable sizing.
  • Collaborate closely with civil, mechanical, structural, and process engineers to deliver fully integrated solutions.
  • Support procurement through technical bid packages, vendor evaluations, and submittal reviews.
  • Get out in the field: site walks, construction support, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
