About The Position

The Electric Vehicle Coordinator will support and expand EAC’s transportation and grid electrification work. This role ensures strong connections with diverse energy sector actors and links energy policy and action to EAC’s campaigns. The Coordinator will utilize relationship-building skills to advance electric transportation and grid work through partnership development and community and coalition-building. This position operates in a collaborative, impact-oriented environment, working with their team, other EAC colleagues, and community, public, and private sector partners. The role is focused on introducing Nova Scotia’s first electric school bus and contributing to community-driven climate and health solutions, with a strong interest in sustainable transportation, greenhouse gas/pollution reduction, electric-grid resiliency, community engagement, and community health in Nova Scotia.

Requirements

At least three years’ experience in project leadership and implementation.
Clear knowledge of community-based energy system work.
Strong decision-making skills, based on an ability to gather and analyze the information needed to understand and resolve problems.
Proven skills as a relationship builder and talented at creating strong networks.
Experience in research, data analysis, report writing, and project implementation.
Experience in community engagement and development, including meeting coordination, group facilitation, and event planning.
Strategic relational skills that function to connect actors across sectors and regions.
A deep and abiding commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its forms, and a cultivated ability to apply an anti-oppressive lens and framework to community development, project management, program design and delivery, and relationship building and repair.
Strong organizational and priority setting skills.
An ability to get creative and innovate.
A proactive approach to funding and grant writing initiatives to support the advancement of electric transportation.

Nice To Haves

Background and/or education in environmental studies or resource management, business administration, communications, or public relations.
Experience working with non-profit and community organizations.
Relationships with African-Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaq communities.

Responsibilities

Work with partners across Atlantic Canada to develop a Vehicle to Everything (V2X) network for conversations regarding bleeding-edge technology and implementation.
Give regular presentations regarding incorporating V2X technology in school bus electrification adoption.
Promote local infrastructure growth to promote the benefits of municipal Medium and Heavy Duty Electric Vehicles (MHDV) and support confidence in provincial investment.
Co-facilitate the electric school bus operators working group.
Work with the EAC Transportation team and municipalities on their MHDV electrification initiatives.
Promote and distribute the EAC’s Electric School Bus children’s book.
Engage in ongoing provincial and federal advocacy for electric school bus mandates and investments.
Ensure systems are in place to coordinate and track the successful and timely completion of electric transportation objectives.
Supervise the Energy Officer working on electric vehicles.
Manage budgets and allocate funds; complete financial and other funder reporting as required.
Identify and submit electric vehicle and V2X-related grant proposals and support related fundraising efforts in conjunction with your supervisor and, in some cases, the fundraising team.
Establish and grow partnerships with organizations, institutions, and people in communities needed for program development, research deliverables, and participant recruitment.
Establish relationships and engagement strategies to ensure project opportunities are of interest to and taken up by participants from diverse communities.
Create outreach and recruitment materials.
Contribute to EAC’s public communications efforts on energy and respond to media inquiries as appropriate.
Engage and support volunteers.
Pursue and advance research partnerships that enhance electric transportation system data collection.
Support the development of relevant documents and frameworks (e.g., evaluation framework, action plan, etc.).
Perform other duties as required.
