About The Position

This role provides advanced technical, analytical, and advisory support for our Resource Planning activities. The primary focus of this position is developing, maintaining, and running production cost, capacity expansion, and portfolio optimization models using PLEXOS. You will play a critical role in supporting executive-level decision-making, regulatory filings, and long-term resource adequacy assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy management, energy systems, or a related field.
  • 8 years of progressively responsible experience in electric resource planning, management, engineering, or operations.
  • 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience developing, maintaining, validating, and executing PLEXOS models, or closely comparable production cost, capacity expansion, or portfolio optimization models.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead PLEXOS modeling efforts, including database management, model configuration, validation, and interpreting results for capacity expansion and production cost scenarios.
  • Conduct specialized studies such as effective load carrying capacity (ELCC) analysis and reserve margin assessments.
  • Maintain and evaluate comprehensive databases for existing unit costs (i.e. capital and O&M), operating characteristics, outage schedules, and fuel transportation requirements.
  • Evaluate diverse resource alternatives (conventional, nuclear/SMR, solar, battery storage, and emerging technologies) based on reliability, cost, risk, and unit utilization.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, executive-level reports and presentations for leadership and external stakeholders.
