This position is for an Electric Power Generator (EPG) Service Technician to join growing operations at Louisiana Cat, based out of Bossier City, LA. The person in this role will be responsible for servicing and repairing power systems of all makes and models, performed in the shop and in the field.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or (GED) equivalent
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills including typing, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • Must own required tool inventory
  • Strong customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor and always "safety-first" mentality every hour of every day
  • Demonstrate an understanding of single phase and three phase circuit theory and AC/DC circuit theory as well as proficient in the use of test equipment
  • Promote positive customer service according to Caterpillar and Louisiana Cat expectations with customers and management team

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ more years of previous hands-on electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting experience working on 8.5kW 2,500kW diesel and natural gas powered generators, ATSs, and Paralleling Switchgear
  • Candidates with commercial / industrial electrical, and / or controls experience
  • Strong heavy equipment engine experience
  • Prior experience with Rental Equipment

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on diesel and natural gas engines, generators, controls, automatic transfer switches, paralleling switchgear, and fuel supply systems.
  • Be accountable for EPG (Electric Power Generator) technical instructions, safety and service manuals for Louisiana Cat.
  • Be responsible for interpreting electric and electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic.
  • Create, track, and formalize work order documents on Caterpillar customer service report software systems.
  • Understand Caterpillar exchange parts process and financial cost analysis of repairs for customers.
  • Be responsible for promoting the Louisiana Cat brand by maintaining a standard of excellence in all that you do.
