About The Position

Brandon & Clark is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Electric Motor Mechanic/Winder to join our electro-mechanical repair team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to develop hands-on technical skills and build a long-term career in the motor repair and winding industry. Under the guidance of experienced technicians and winders, the Apprentice Motor Repair & Winding Technician will assist with troubleshooting, disassembly, rewinding, repair, assembly, and testing of electric motors while learning industry standards, safety practices, and repair procedures. This is an hourly, shop-based role requiring mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical processes.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely in an industrial environment.

  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mechanical, industrial, or motor repair experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting various types of electric motors, including AC and DC motors.
  • Learn to safely disassemble motors to inspect and identify damaged or worn components.
  • Assist with repairing and replacing faulty motor parts using proper tools and repair techniques.
  • Participate in motor assembly and reassembly processes.
  • Conduct and assist with operational and electrical testing of repaired motors.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation, including parts used and testing results.
  • Learn from and assist experienced winders in rewinding and assembly tasks.
  • Assist with stripping, cleaning, and preparing motors for rewinding.
  • Learn to identify winding connections and winding configurations.
  • Support the setup and operation of various coil winding machines.
  • Assist with preparation and operation of the VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) system.
  • Learn to operate the core loss tester and assist with motor testing procedures.
  • Prepare motors for the burnout oven process.
  • Assist with collecting and organizing winding data and repair records.
  • Learn basic stator iron repair procedures as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to support efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
  • Assist with additional shop duties and operational needs as assigned.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of electric motor repair and rewinding processes.
  • Gain experience using diagnostic tools, winding equipment, testing instruments, and shop machinery.
  • Learn industry standards and best practices related to motor repair and rewinding.
  • Build troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills through mentorship and hands-on training.
