About The Position

The Electric Motor Design Engineer leads complex engineering assignments involving electromagnetic design of AC and DC motors and the development of new or improved products, methods, techniques, and processes. The role combines advanced technical design work with technical project leadership, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and verifying engineering work to meet technical requirements, schedules, costs, and customer expectations. Extensive gear design and manufacturing expertise is needed to support product integration and optimize designs for manufacturing and assembly. The position provides technical responsibility for assigned projects and products, without direct supervisory responsibility. The engineer develops project goals, plans, schedules, milestones, staffing, and resource requirements; monitors progress and costs; coordinates technical work; and resolves technical or scheduling issues. The position also prepares and reviews engineering analyses, drawings, schematics, test and verification plans, reports, and manufacturing-process documentation. It verifies product performance through analysis, similarity assessments, and testing, and maintains project records and technical databases. The role collaborates with engineering teams, manufacturing, vendors, customers, internal leadership, and other external partners. It supports continuous improvement, advises management on significant engineering matters, and trains and mentors less experienced employees. The position is onsite in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on a first-shift schedule. The stated salary range is $130,000–$160,000 annually, depending on experience and education, with a 15% bonus opportunity.
