About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking an Electric Ground Worker to join their team. This role offers exposure to the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System. It's an excellent starting point for a career with Dominion Energy, with opportunities for advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design, or Dispatch areas. The position involves significant outdoor work in various weather conditions and is considered heavy labor. The successful candidate must be willing to work up to 300 hours of overtime annually and ideally be able to respond within one hour for overtime calls. The role requires the candidate to be 18 years of age, obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month and a CDL within 6 months of employment. A weight restriction of 290 pounds applies due to equipment weight limits. Candidates must achieve recommended test results from the Modern Hire Electric Ground Worker Virtual Job Tryout and a pre-employment fitness physical assessment. Initial training will be conducted at the Training Center in Chester, VA, for 4 weeks at Dominion Energy's expense.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age at the time of application
Must obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment.

Requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electric Ground Worker Virtual Job Tryout administered online.
Requires "recommended" results from pre-employment fitness physical assessment.
Valid Driver's License
GED or HS diploma required
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis
Ability to carry up to 60 pounds
Ability to work on ladders and hydraulic lifts
Ability to be on call and quickly respond to electrical restorations
Ability to learn how to operate construction equipment and use hand tools
Computer application aptitude
Ability to work within a physically demanding work environment
A strong driving record which will allow the candidate to obtain a commercial driver’s license by the end of the sixth month of employment

Nice To Haves

Prefer Class A or Class B CDL

Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 certification
Prefer certification in CPR, First Aid, or AED
Previous experience in working with mechanical or electrical concepts and applications
Background in the military is a plus
Background in construction or related work environments

Responsibilities

Providing tools, materials, and supplies to journeyman linemen
Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite
Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained
Preparing the equipment and worksite for the effective completion of assignments
Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.)
