About The Position

The Electric Bus Mechanic position involves troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of electromechanical/electrical/electronic and mechanical systems similar to those found in school buses and light-duty vehicles. This includes working with control circuitry, AC/DC motors, generators, inverters, and air conditioning equipment. The role is a 12-month position with a M-F work schedule, working 8 hours per day from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The hourly range is Step 1 $27.05 to Step 8 $38.05, with initial salary placement determined by experience.

Requirements

  • Verifiable full-time experience as a journey-level mechanic performing troubleshooting, repairs, and/or maintenance of electromechanical/ electrical/ electronic and mechanical systems similar to those found in school bus and/or light-duty vehicles, such as control circuitry, AC/DC motors, generators, inverters, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Must participate in the District’s physical and drug testing program, including pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from a trade school or technical school approved by the state's Department of Education with a major course of study in electromechanical, electrical, or electronic technology, or a closely related field (may substitute for two years of experience).
  • Possession of an A.A. or A.S. degree, or higher degree, from an accredited college or university in electromechanical, electrical, or electronic technology, or a closely related field (may substitute for two years of experience).
  • Possession of a valid DMV Medical Examiner's Certificate (for some positions).
  • Obtaining and maintaining a Commercial Class B driver's license with appropriate endorsements as required by the DMV within six (6) months of notification (for some positions).

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting electromechanical/electrical/electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Performing repairs on systems such as control circuitry, AC/DC motors, generators, inverters, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Conducting maintenance on school bus and/or light-duty vehicles.
  • Participating in the District’s physical and drug testing program, including pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion testing.
