About The Position

Work with the Engineering staff to support the Electric Area Engineering team. Work as an entry level engineer doing tasks that support electric reliability, power quality, system protection and plant betterment to improve the electric distribution system. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.

Requirements

  • Current student, Sophomore or Junior status only (as of Fall 2026)
  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering
  • Able to commute to the Distribution Center location in Denver, CO- Hybrid Schedule
  • Able to work part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week)
  • Must be local to Colorado and attend school in Colorado

Nice To Haves

  • 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution/Systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist with distribution system analysis and feeder performance evaluations
  • Review outage data and reliability metrics (e.g., SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI) to identify trends
  • Prepare and support Project Planning & Execution submittments
  • Participate in field visits to observe construction activities and system conditions
  • Apply and verify compliance with electric standards, construction practices, and engineering guidelines
  • Analyze power quality measurements, including voltage, current, flicker, and harmonics
  • Assist Area Engineers with capital project tracking and documentation
  • Work closely with Area Engineers, project managers, planners, designers, and operations personnel
  • Communicate & prepare technical summaries, reports, and presentations for engineering staff
