About The Position

The Election Strategist is responsible for developing and executing election, bond, and community engagement strategies that support educational institution clients across Texas. This role blends deep expertise in political and election strategy with strong interpersonal and communication skills, serving as a trusted advisor to school districts, superintendents, and community stakeholders. He/she plays an active, client-facing role throughout the lifecycle of bond efforts, from early strategy and data analysis to on-the-ground campaign execution and post-election evaluation. This individual is expected to be present in communities, lead conversations, facilitate meetings, and help districts navigate the political landscape with confidence and clarity. With a strong understanding of Texas politics, voter behavior, and election dynamics, the Election Strategist helps refine Pfluger’s service model for election and community engagement support, continuously improving tools, processes, and approaches to better serve the firm’s clients and communities.

Requirements

  • Passion for public education and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in political campaigns, election strategy, or large-scale electoral efforts. Congressional or statewide races preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Texas politics and the primary and general election landscape.
  • Proven ability to analyze voter data and translate insights into actionable campaign strategies.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently engage and persuade diverse audiences.
  • Experience working directly with clients and community stakeholders in politically sensitive environments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to connect and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • The Election Strategist must be prepared to commute daily to Pfluger’s local office and as required to Pfluger’s other offices and client locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of school bond programs, public school funding, and long-range facility planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive election and bond strategies for K-12 and higher education clients, aligned with district goals and community priorities.
  • Lead political and election strategy development, including campaign planning, timelines, and tactical execution.
  • Provide strategic counsel to school district leadership on election dynamics, political considerations, and voter engagement approaches.
  • Support and execute campaigns through Political Action Committees (PACs), ensuring effective organization and coordination.
  • Analyze historical and current voter data to inform strategy, targeting, and messaging decisions.
  • Leverage analytics to refine outreach methods, including block walking strategies, targeted text messaging, and voter contact programs.
  • Stay informed on legislative, regulatory, and political factors impacting school bond elections in Texas.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with superintendents, district leadership, community members, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a visible, trusted advisor to clients by participating in regular meetings (often weekly or biweekly over the course of several months) throughout active election efforts.
  • Lead and participate in community meetings and stakeholder engagements, clearly articulating campaign strategy and objectives.
  • Connect authentically with diverse communities, tailoring engagement approaches to local context and priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between school districts, community members, and internal Pfluger teams to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Develop integrated campaign and communication plans that align election strategy with community engagement efforts.
  • Support the execution of campaign tactics on the ground, ensuring strategies translate into effective action.
  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness and provide post-election analysis and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Pfluger’s election services and community engagement service model.
  • Help establish internal structures, processes, and best practices for supporting election and bond services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve voter software, data tools, and campaign methodologies.
  • Continuously seek innovative approaches to strengthen community engagement and election outcomes for clients.
