About The Position

The Lake County Elections Department is accepting applications for: Election Judge QUALIFICATIONS: Must be knowledgeable in modern office methods, practices, and procedures, Business English, punctuation, spelling, and arithmetic; Must possess a valid Driver's license; be detail-oriented; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships, and remain calm and react appropriately during stressful situations. Cannot be a candidate, or spouse, ascendant, descendant, brother or sister of a candidate or candidate's spouse or the spouse of any of these in an election prescient where the candidate's name appears on the ballot. DUTIES: Perform a variety of clerical duties involving elections including but not limited to: setting up the polling places; greet and direct voters; ensure the polling place is running smoothly and voters are served in a courteous manner; be responsible for the security of all elections material at their polling place; distribute proper ballots to qualified voters; securely transport ballots in teams of two; may perform physical duties, such as bending, stooping, standing, using a step-ladder, intermittent strenuous physical activity, and moving boxes weighing up to 65 lbs. HOURS/DAYS: Judges must attend a three (3) hour training session between March 12-27. Morning and afternoon training sessions will be available. Work performed on Election Days will be approx. 6am – 9pm on June 2 and November 3 WAGE: $16.75/hourly. This position will remain open until filled.
