About The Position

An Elder Associate, under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. Maintains a habilitative environment that promotes Elder independence in their home. The primary role is to nurture, sustain and protect the Elder by providing the services needed to live a full life.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline required
  • CNA License
  • BLS required
  • ServSafe required within 6 months of hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1-2 years of CNA experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
  • Provides direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks including passive range of motion, active range of motion, ambulation, activity of daily living training, special positioning, splint application, restorative dining, bladder/bowel management and/or retraining.
  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
  • Documents care in the medical record.
  • Incorporates the Eden Philosophy of living into every action undertaken throughout one’s employment.
  • Provides assistance with personal activities of daily living related to the Elder’s physical, emotional, intellectual, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs.
  • Encourages each Elder to reach his maximum functional ability then helps maintain these abilities.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and sanitary environment for the Elder.
  • Launders all personal clothing and environmental items used in the home.
  • Creates opportunities for the Elder to give care to others.
  • Involves all Elders in recreational and diversional activities.
  • Committed to the development of the staff, Elders and families as collaborative team members. Teamwork is a prime responsibility for each individual.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
