About The Position

This role will provide support of all outreach and training initiatives related to the Elder Abuse and Justice Initiatives Program at Vera House. Other significant elements of this work include the annual Elder Abuse Conference, the Evergreen Network / Elder Justice Coalition and other community awareness and outreach activities related to the topics of neglect, abuse, and financial exploitation of older persons. In this position, there will be engagement with community stakeholders and partners in outreach and awareness efforts by creating proposals, planning, and facilitation of training programs. Support the enhanced multi-disciplinary team initiative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one to three years of experience in direct service and community collaboration.
  • Experience in training, writing, public speaking, and program/grant management.
  • Thorough knowledge of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation as well as domestic and sexual violence.
  • Must be adept at planning, organization, time management, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • High quality written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community-based service delivery systems, in particular through knowledge of criminal and civil justice systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the area.
  • Maintain strong professional boundaries, limited to the extent of professional relationships, ensuring compliance, ethical and appropriate interactions.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and facilitate the completion of program goals and objectives with staff and collaborating partners.
  • Develop, update and revise program curricula and materials, including program assessment tools, as necessary.
  • Schedule and deliver presentations on abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of older persons to community stakeholders and partners.
  • Collect, analyze, and report program outputs and outcome data to funding sources.
  • Represent the Agency to the community and collaborate with community members to ensure the implementation and/or maintenance of the Agency’s program services.
  • Participate in the Elder Justice Coalition; coordinate Partner Meetings and support and assist the Director, Elder Abuse and Justice, in related projects.
  • Maintain client and education databases consistent with Vera House practices.
  • Ensure the Agency’s services are maintained in accordance with the Agency’s mission and goals, maintain the database consistent with Vera House practices.
  • Maintain regular communication and foster positive relations with relevant agencies and stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular communication and foster positive relations among EMDT members.
  • Manage difficult and/or emotional client situations and respond promptly to client needs.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of outreach events.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
