PortagePointe is a long-term care facility with 60 beds to offer to the senior community and is known as the premier nursing home serving the entire Upper Peninsula. We are a certified Eden Alternative facility and take great pride in providing a home-like environment for residents. PortagePointe is regulated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), a member of the American Health Care Association (AHCA), and a member of the Healthcare Association of Michigan (HCAM). There are 5 different homes where staff have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of Elders through engaging in daily care, eating with elders, walking in the beautiful garden, and participating in activities in and outside our homes. Requirements

  • Applicants should have a current state of Michigan certification as a Nursing Assistant. (Required within 4 months of Hire)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Successful Completion of Nurse Aide Training Program Required
  • BLS Certification Required (Certification Available Upon Hire)
  • Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination Required

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic patient care skills under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrate safe practices with caring for patients.
  • Provides general nursing care such as position the patient, lifting, turning, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bed pan, urinal or commode, ambulating the patient, bed bath, oral and hair care, changing bed linens, cleaning and straightening patient room and other general care necessary.
  • Takes and records vitals and intake and output measurements accurately. Documents in a timely manner.
  • Answers Elder call lights, telephone, and paging system and responds as appropriate.
