About The Position

J&Y Law is a rapidly growing plaintiff-side Elder Abuse and Personal Injury law firm based in Los Angeles, California. We are seeking an experienced Elder Abuse & Personal Injury Attorney to join our expanding team. Elder Abuse is a meaningful and growing area of litigation that gives attorneys the opportunity to advocate for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. At J&Y Law, you will have the opportunity to handle significant matters involving nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation facilities, healthcare providers, neglect, serious injuries, and wrongful death. Requirements

  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • 5+ years of relevant litigation experience preferred
  • Elder Abuse litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Plaintiff-side experience preferred, although qualified defense attorneys are encouraged to apply
  • Personal Injury litigation experience is a plus
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Strong deposition and courtroom skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Leadership skills and the ability to effectively guide support staff
  • Genuine passion for advocating for injured individuals and their families
  • Admitted to the State Bar of California
  • Able to travel throughout California as necessary for court appearances, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates should be comfortable managing cases, developing litigation strategy, appearing in court, taking and defending depositions, participating in mediations and arbitrations, and preparing matters for trial.
  • Attorneys with strong Elder Abuse experience who need additional exposure to Personal Injury matters are encouraged to apply. We can provide training in Personal Injury law.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Elder Abuse and Personal Injury litigation matters
  • Develop case strategy from initial evaluation through resolution
  • Draft complaints, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
  • Prepare mediation, arbitration, and trial briefs
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
  • Review medical records and other case evidence
  • Work with experts and other professionals as necessary
  • Evaluate damages and settlement opportunities
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Maintain regular communication with clients
  • Meet court, discovery, and internal deadlines
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and support staff
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members when appropriate
