About The Position

Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of ELA 6 Teacher in our Middle School building for a 2026-2027 opening. We are actively seeking a dynamic and motivated member of the Middle School team. RACS is a public charter school, primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. Over 90% of our students identify as an individual of color. We are a college preparatory school and use data to determine how best to foster student growth. RACS seeks to prepare all graduates for active citizenship. We are seeking teachers who are self-directed, committed and independent. RACS teachers are team players who work collaboratively, including when planning curriculum. Candidates should know or be ready to learn responsive lesson planning practices. Requirements

• New York State certification for ELA grades 7-12th (out-of-state certification will be considered)
• Bachelor's Degree in Education or completed a teacher certification program
• International applicants must possess a work authorization
• Self-directed, committed and independent
• Team players who work collaboratively
• Know or be ready to learn responsive lesson planning practices

Responsibilities

• Desire to lead and mentor students at the Middle school level
• Teaching English 6
• Preparing Students for the NYS Testing Program
• Working with the CommonLit 360 Curriculum, with freedom to make choices around what will prepare students for the NYS test and for high school
• Focus on NYS standards
• Teach both on grade level instruction and intervention periods
• Create and maintain connections and communication with students and families
• Working with grade level and department teams
• Mentor a small group of students
• Opportunities to lead school wide activities
