The English Learner Specialist will oversee and provide support for the English Learner Program. This role involves engaging in AZELLA Trainings, providing professional development for teachers, and working with the School Testing Coordinator to implement a schedule for English language instruction. The specialist will service students during their English language development time, provide EL tutoring, and track student English acquisition progress. Essential functions include supporting students requiring English acquisition instruction, possessing a deep understanding of research-based language interventions and K-8 standards, and expertise in effective instructional and assessment practices for language acquisition. The role requires collaborative skills to influence educational efforts, assist administrators and staff in implementing EL programs, and maintain student progress records. The specialist will use data to evaluate student abilities, adjust instruction, serve on the school data team, create a conducive classroom environment, and facilitate instruction based on best practices. They will use district and state assessment data to improve instruction, provide individual diagnostic testing, participate in MTSS team reviews, attend meetings and parent conferences, communicate objectives clearly, and communicate concerns professionally. The role also involves assuming assigned responsibilities from the principal/supervisor, completing required certifications, preparing reports, and following District Policies. Other duties as assigned.
