About The Position

The EKG Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring patient telemetry, collecting and reporting patient information, and ensuring the proper functioning of monitoring equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of cardiac rhythms and the ability to respond appropriately to changes in patient status. The technician will work closely with nurses to provide continuity of care and maintain accurate patient records. Texas Health Dallas is a Magnet-designated, full-service hospital with a long history of providing high-quality patient care in various specialties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • EKG certification strongly preferred
  • 1 year of telemetry monitoring experience strongly preferred
  • GE Monitoring System experience preferred
  • Basic understanding/ability to learn medical terminology
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competence in the set up and use of the telemetry monitoring equipment.
  • Collects, reports, and documents patient information (rhythms/rate) timely and accurately.
  • Seeks assistance, supervision, or consultation when unsure of rhythm(s) identification.
  • Distinguishes and reports abnormalities and initiates action to provide continuity of care.
  • Processes admission and discharge or patients in system promptly.
  • Prepares monitor for next patient admission.
  • Notifies patient’s primary RN promptly of any changes in patient’s monitor view.
