About The Position

Responsible for assisting with diagnostic tests using electrocardiograms to capture patient heart rhythm and rate. This role involves performing EKG tracings for Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals and ED triage, transferring EKGs to Powerchart, creating orders in Powerchart for outpatient EKGs, and signing as performed by EKG in Powerchart. The technician will also clean and stock EKG machines for critical care units, perform pacemaker device interrogations in the ED, and manage the unmatched EKG list in Powerchart. Additionally, the role requires responding to STAT, RTT, and timed EKGs per department policy, demonstrating skills and knowledge of growth and development, and providing patient care as needed. The technician must perform assigned work safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and report any unsafe activities or conditions to their supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or its equivalent
  • Basic CCU in-service and medical terminology
  • Yearly EKG competency and critical results review w/certificate of completion
  • BEAT class training upon hire/transfer certificate of completion
  • CPR w/AED certification (2 years)
