The EKG Technician is responsible for performing routine and STAT ECG procedures. This role involves troubleshooting ECG-related problems, preparing patients for procedures with empathy and gentleness, obtaining relevant patient history, and maintaining a timely flow of patients. The technician will also perform Holter and Event Monitor applications, removals, and processing, as well as Pacemaker checks. Additionally, the role includes clerical functions such as entering/editing data, ensuring correct procedures are ordered and charged, collecting information for physician interpretation, completing paperwork, editing reports, and maintaining accurate records. The EKG Technician will also interact with medical staff, nurses, and other hospital departments regarding patient care and departmental procedures, identify and report critical findings immediately, and coordinate patient care. Participation in professional development, process improvement teams, and providing training assistance to new employees and physicians are also key responsibilities. The technician must maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment, complying with safety standards and infection control practices.
