The EKG Technician is responsible for performing routine and STAT requests for ECG procedures. This includes correctly identifying patients, obtaining relevant patient history, and responding to STAT requests, code blue, outpatient, and inpatient routine requests in a timely manner. The technician will rotate to the Emergency Department according to schedule. They will also be responsible for entering and editing data in the ECG machine before transmission, performing Holter Monitor applications/removals, preparing patients for procedures with respect and empathy, and troubleshooting problems associated with ECGs and rhythm strips. The role involves providing and receiving shift-to-shift updates, ensuring the timely completion of ECGs, and performing clerical functions for physician interpretation, department record-keeping, and patient billing. Additionally, the technician will maintain printers and department equipment, ensure appropriate procedures are ordered, collect information for the interpreting physician, and properly distribute studies. Participation in professional development, process improvement teams, attending inservices and meetings, completing annual mandatory requirements, maintaining BLS, and responding to emails are also key aspects of the role. The technician will demonstrate customer service initiatives, work as a team member, and provide training assistance to associates and physicians. Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by complying with safety standards, reporting equipment malfunctions, and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of department equipment is crucial.
