As an Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care across a dynamic acute-care environment, providing cardiac testing for patients ranging from stable medical cases to critically ill individuals. In this role, you will collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, members of the Adult Medical Emergency Team (AMET), and fellow EKG technicians to coordinate cardiac testing, communicate results promptly, and support patient care throughout the hospital. Working independently during night shifts, you will share responsibility for hospital-wide EKG services with a small team, performing approximately 15–25 EKGs per shift. Success in this role requires confidence in managing patients of all acuity levels, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care. A caregiver in this position works full-time| days| 6:30am—3:00pm.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program

Responsibilities

  • Position and connect leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
  • Review patients record and instruct patients prior to procedures.
  • Monitor patient during procedures and report any abnormal findings.
  • Identify and correct for wandering, interference and artifacts.
  • Edit and forward results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
  • Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.
