About The Position

The EKG Equipment Technician assists respiratory care practitioners by cleaning and assembling equipment, stocking supplies, and managing inventory. The role also acquires 12-lead electrocardiograms for patients of all age groups and performs assigned ECG and equipment technician duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and orders.

Requirements

• BLS (Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon start.
• Ability to organize workload according to essential tasks.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot complex equipment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to support the total patient care team.

Nice To Haves

• Current enrollment in an accredited two-year Respiratory Care Practitioner training program is highly preferred.
• Experience with data entry, DOS, Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Previous experience as a healthcare provider.
• Recent employment demonstrating decision-making ability and/or mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrocardiograms in a timely manner according to established policies, procedures, or orders.
• Use sound clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities during patient care.
• Rapidly assess changing priorities and coordinate resources to respond effectively in emergent situations.
• Communicate ECG data as appropriate to other healthcare team members.
• Adjust workload or duties in response to changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing, or scheduling.
• Clean and assemble equipment, stock supplies, and manage inventory to support respiratory care practitioners.
