About The Position

The Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer within its Technology Services Division to maintain its Enterprise Infrastructure and Applications. This is a full-time (FTE) promotion opportunity. Requirements

Thorough understanding of multi-tiered application architecture.
Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, client operating systems, and Linux Server operating systems.
Ability to automate operational tasks and routines using PowerShell and/or other automation platforms/methods.
Experience working in a 24x7, mission-critical enterprise public cloud and on-premises data center environment.
Proven customer service and organizational skills, with the ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of staff.
Demonstrated problem-resolution skills and analytical/critical thinking abilities.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, operate within established operational policies and guidelines, and adapt to the changing needs of the agency.

Responsibilities

Working closely with other IT teams including Information Security, Service Desk, Quality Assurance, Production Support, and product vendors to plan, deploy, and sustain a stable, highly performing, and available infrastructure and application environment.
Ownership/oversight and hands-on planning, deployment and operational upkeep of ASRS’ infrastructure and applications.
Proactive monitoring, identification, and resolution of the most complex infrastructure and application problems.
Promoting and advancing team efficiencies and capabilities through automation improvements, including leveraging AI and LLMs for automation, problem-solving, and efficiency.
Maintaining timely, accurate and complete documentation and desk procedures for systems and team functions.
Identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities.
Administration and management of: multi-tiered COTS applications, public-cloud services, physical and virtual servers, security appliances, Active Directory and group policy, and secure remote access.
Adherence to Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management processes and controls.
Performing IT Service Management functions including creating tickets, communicating directly with users/IT staff, fielding incident escalations, performing troubleshooting operations and thoroughly documenting progress/status.
