Heart of Los Angeles (Heart of LA) provides underserved youth with free, exceptional programs in academics, arts, and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education, and strengthen their communities. The Intergenerational Music Program, made possible by our partnership with The Eisner Foundation, brings together singers, big band, and orchestral musicians of all ages across intermediate and advanced skill levels in a multicultural environment that is representative of our great city. Performers benefit from interactions with one another as they progress toward a common goal of artistic excellence across a diverse musical repertoire. Our intergenerational music performances are designed to share the joy of music-making with performers and audience members through free community concerts at landmark venues. The Associate Conductor, reporting to the Program Manager and Department Director, is responsible for giving instruction and guidance to program participants in their ensemble. The Associate Conductor will provide a welcoming environment and facilitate communal and musical growth through rehearsal plans designed to realize the program's mission. The Associate Conductor will work closely with the Program Manager and Department Director to plan and execute the season’s rehearsals, culminating in at least one performance per semester.
