About The Position

The EIC Engineer will possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems. This role is responsible for the overall success and coordination of the electrical scope on technical projects, ensuring the electrical team coordinates and communicates effectively with all project stakeholders and follows department procedures. The EIC Engineer will provide direction and make final decisions within the electrical scope, support initial design including overall objectives and scope, and contribute to developing the overall power system design. Responsibilities include supporting all electrical deliverables, developing instrument lists, I/O lists, loop and wiring diagrams, incorporating vendor document information, developing ETAP/SLD and power system models, physical layout design, circuit/conduit schedules, supporting equipment specifications, RFQ packages, MTOs, and contractor scope of work. The role also involves designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems, programming PLCs, HMIs, and related automation platforms, and supporting commissioning activities both at the shop and onsite.

Requirements

  • S. in Engineering.
  • 7 years minimum premised on extensive, varied, progressive experience in applicable field.
  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of real-world engineering topics that fall within the engineer's discipline to the extent that the engineer can competently participate in a technical discussion with other SMEs within that discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Overall success and coordination of the electrical scope on technical projects.
  • Ensure electrical team is coordinating and communicating with all project stakeholders, team members, and follows department procedures and standards.
  • Providing direction and making final decisions within the electrical scope on technical projects.
  • Support for initial design on projects including overall objective and scope, supporting and input to developing overall power system design.
  • Support for all electrical deliverables, development on instrument lists, I/O lists, loop and wiring diagrams, incorporating all information from vendor documents, development of ETAP/SLD and power system model, physical layout design, circuit/conduit schedules, support equipment specification, support RFQ packages, develop MTO’s, contractor scope of work.
  • Designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and control systems, with a demonstrated willingness to program PLCs, HMIs, and related automation platforms.
  • Supporting commissioning activities both at the shop and onsite to validate site acceptance.
  • Mentors and supervises engineering staff (Eng.I and Eng.II).
  • Provides training presentations within the engineer's discipline to educate others within the company on topics related to the discipline.
  • Able to run complex engineering calculations applicable to discipline.
  • Provides engineering and technical solutions by using existing or developing tools, methods, approaches and tactics in new ways or by modifying and improving them.
  • Presents engineering research, findings solutions and recommendations to leadership.
  • Works independently under limited direction and guidance.
  • Independently evaluates, determines and applies standard engineering techniques and approaches using independent judgement.
  • Manage multi-disciplined engineering team including engineering contractors and production team members.
  • Independently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary design of engineering work.
  • Assistance is provided for challenging or difficult assignments but possesses the ability and judgement to investigate and recommend alternative approaches for assignment that do not have clear objectives.
  • Shows technical depth and knowledge of power system concepts, including performing of load flow studies, short circuit studies, motor starting, and protective devices settings, coordination studies, arc flash analysis, grounding studies. (Electrical Only)
  • Advanced understanding and interpretation of code requirements set forth in the National Electric Code.
  • Advanced knowledge of guidelines and design requirements related to Hazardous Area Classification set forth in AGA XL1001 and API RP 500, including proper specification of electrical equipment.
  • Advanced ability to develop instrumentation specifications and datasheets through delegating with other engineering support.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical construction and commissioning practices related to raceway, electrical equipment, power and control systems, SCADA, equipment startup and FCO.
  • Advanced Ability to develop complex and detailed electrical one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and connection diagrams.
  • Requires ongoing coordination, communication and/or team problem-solving between departments or functional areas and clients for work production or service quality.
