About The Position

TC Energy is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician for their Canada Gas Operations team in Drumheller, AB. This role involves repairing, installing, troubleshooting, and performing planned and corrective maintenance on electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment. The EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment, including industrial gas turbines, natural gas generators, boilers, air compressors, and PLC control systems, ensuring compliance with operational needs, company policies, and regulatory requirements. The position also requires performing tasks from other disciplines. This role is eligible for overtime, with a regular work schedule of Week 1: Monday to Thursday (9 hours/day), Friday off; Week 2: Monday to Thursday (9 hours/day), 8 hours on Friday.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Electrician certification
  • 5 years of related industry experience
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, including occasional overnight stays away from home.
  • Participation in on-call rotation, overtime, and emergency support as required.
  • All applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions.
  • Background screening is required for all positions, which may include criminal and/or credit checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS/Blueworx) and SAP experience
  • Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
  • Current with technological advances in the compression field and PLC's

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required.
  • Conduct routine regular maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, test, & maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and over-pressure protection devices, control valves, PLC’s & control systems.
  • Install & configure software in control systems.
  • Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs.
  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards.
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control.
  • Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties.
  • Maintain core operational task qualifications.
  • Engage in training, coaching, and mentoring opportunities to develop trade skills.
