About The Position

Our Heartland Area is currently seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join our team based in Medicine Hat, AB. Reporting to the Heartland Area Manager, this EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment (including assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, boilers, fuel gas compressors, and PLC & DCS control systems) in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will also be required to perform tasks from other disciplines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum completion of the second year of a trades program, where applicable, or two years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institution
  • Ability to meet and maintain company-defined operator qualifications and technical tasks
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a driver’s abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (up to 15% of work schedule)
  • Participation in on-call rotation and emergency support as required
  • All applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions.
  • Background screening is required for all positions, which may include criminal and/or credit checks.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and maintenance of natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment, including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems, under supervision
  • Observe and follow company and regulatory safety standards at all times
  • Complete assigned administrative functions related to your position
  • Assist with installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of compressor station equipment and pipeline facilities
  • Support troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities under supervision
  • Learn to operate and maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLCs, and control systems
  • Perform qualified tasks independently, as approved by supervision
  • Participate in emergency repairs and support customer/client needs as directed
  • Ensure compliance with TC Energy’s Community, Safety, and Environment policies
  • Maintain operator qualifications and technical task certifications as defined by the company
  • Engage in training, coaching, and mentoring opportunities to develop trade skills
  • Continue developing your trade skills through ongoing training and mentorship
  • Participate in routine maintenance and repairs as directed
