About The Position

TC Energy's NGTL South Natural Gas Operations Group is seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician for their Glacier Valley Area team in Cranbrook, BC. This role involves operating and maintaining natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment, including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems, instrumentation, and process equipment. The technician will also perform tasks from other disciplines like pipeline and measurement. This position is eligible for domestic relocation and has a regular work schedule of 9 hours per day, Monday to Thursday, with alternating Fridays off or 8 hours on Friday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years of related Industry experience
  • Journeyman Red Seal Electrician certification
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
  • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
  • Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position. Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Red Seal Electrician certification and Journeyman Instrumentation certification
  • 10 years of years of related Industry experience
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and SAP experience
  • Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
  • Previous experience with gas generators, power turbines and compressors
  • Previous PLC experience
  • Current with technological advances in the compression field
  • Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Work on a team of high-performance EIC, mechanical and pipeline technicians to move gas on large-diameter pipelines
  • Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
  • Conduct routine maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot, test, and maintain shutdown devices, fire and gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLC’s and control systems
  • Install and configure software in control systems
  • Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
  • Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties
  • Maintain core operational task qualifications
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnel
