Click on the link below to learn what our employees have to say about Evonik: https ://careers.evonik.com/en/about/meet-the-team/ The EHSSQ Specialist is responsible for ensuring site compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality (EHSSQ) regulations while maintaining RC14001 and ISO 9001 management systems. The role partners with site personnel and business lines to implement regulatory and internal requirements, drive continuous improvement, and deliver cost-effective compliance solutions. The position also supports training, reporting, and cross-site standardization efforts while promoting a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., environmental science, safety science, industrial hygiene)
  • 2–4 years of experience in Environmental, Health, or Safety roles
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer systems and digital tools
  • Knowledge of EHSSQ regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with audits, inspections, and compliance program management
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, labs, and leadership teams

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: DOT, HAZMAT, Radiation Safety, and RCRA

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support reporting and MOC systems across business lines
  • Manage the site waste program, including inspections, shipments, and regulatory recordkeeping
  • Lead compliance reporting, including metrics, KPIs, and tracking of performance and exceptions
  • Develop and deliver EHSSQ training programs, ensuring employee compliance with required training
  • Oversee and maintain site security programs and protocols
  • Implement and manage RC14001 and ISO 9001 systems, including audits and management reviews
  • Lead emergency preparedness initiatives and coordinate the site Emergency Response Team
  • Collaborate with business lines to ensure EHSSQ compliance in laboratory operations and support related improvement projects
