About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician supports a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace by performing daily safety oversight, inspections, employee training, hazardous waste management, and environmental compliance activities. This position works closely with management and employees to identify hazards, mitigate risk, and support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts—including standard day shifts, 2nd shift, weekend shifts, and 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be flexible and willing to be assigned to any shift based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and aerial lifts.

  • Experience managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas.
  • Experience performing boots-on-the-ground safety oversight.
  • Strong hands-on work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a construction or industrial environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety oversight by identifying and correcting workplace hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Monitor employee exposure to job and chemical hazards in accordance with OSHA permissible exposure limits.
  • Perform department-specific safety surveys to verify safe work practices, including proper PPE use, fall protection, and control of trip hazards.
  • Provide training on the safe operation of motorized elevated work platforms (MEWPs), including aerial and scissor lifts.
  • Provide training on safe forklift operation.
  • Perform monthly life-safety equipment inspections.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of emergency eyewash stations and emergency showers.
  • Monitor the well-water treatment system for proper chlorine treatment.
  • Perform duties related to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal requirements.
  • Inspect and monitor hazardous waste levels at departmental satellite accumulation areas.
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly labeled and stored according to classification.
  • Maintain 90-day hazardous waste drum logs, hazardous waste records, and required supplies.
  • Perform required hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspections.
  • Assist with preparation of waste shipments.
  • Remove expired chemicals as required.
  • Perform spill response and spill prevention activities.
  • Conduct environmental compliance and due diligence audits.
