About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical Sector - PDCA division is currently seeking an EHS Technician - Weekend Shift based onsite at our Avery Creek, NC manufacturing facility. The hours for this position are 7am - 7:30pm Fri-Sun. In this role you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and deployment of safety initiatives, goals, metrics and compliance programs, and other activities for the facility. You will provide EHS leadership and oversight activity for facility projects, changes and upgrades requiring resourcefulness, teamwork, and building partnerships with other functional team leaders and project managers to achieve effective results. The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • One (1) year of experience working in an Environmental, Health, & Safety role.
  • Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Arden, NC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Environmental, Health, or Safety with strong understanding of OSHA regulations, ergonomics, workers compensation, and safety programs.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ISO standards and Lean principles, with a proven history of improving safety metrics and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and lead projects designed to effectively drive improvements in our “Zero Incident Safety Culture” program(s) and monitors critical components such as critical machine guarding compliance, electrical safe work practices, lock out tag out, Powered Industrial Vehicle, and Crane/Hoist processes.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and achievement of annual safety and environmental targets and metrics to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results; and implements and provides guidance and oversight to employee led safety teams and interacts and partners with local functional managers to execute programs and projects; serves as leader of plant’s safety committee.
  • Maintains an up-to-date emergency response procedure – runs the drills (plant evacuation, medical emergency drills, weather events, etc.) and takes lead during emergency events.
  • Partner with other functional support engineering teams to ensure plant projects, changes, upgrades, and modifications adhere to and meet the PROLaunch and MESH “Change Management” processes; assists Operational Excellence and engineering team with building and grounds capital projects as required.
  • Provide guidance to functional managers and their employees for Worker’s Compensation claim resolution and workplace process improvements and accident prevention. Actively investigates all accidents and near misses, identifies root causes, tracks trends, and ensures corrective actions are implemented. Lead person for 8D on all recordable accidents.
  • Maintain site certifications – ensure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics and closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings and assists with intermediate communication with public/government authorities; assists in providing guidance and leading resolutions actions during crises. Available 24/7 for consultation, guidance, and remediation.
  • Coordinate all OSHA compliance programs, including, but not limited to: PPE, Machine Safety, Blood Borne Pathogen, Foot Protection and Eye Protection, Confined Space, Contractor Safety and Hazard Communication.
  • Compile and analyze MESH data for capturing in Eaton’s Safety database to include corrective action tracking and MESH scoring; produces data for monthly balanced scorecard based on MESH corrective action completion and incident rates.
  • Oversee EHS training and scheduling for the production and Lab team.
  • Lead and guide employee safety team and track action items and closure.
