The EHS Supervisor role at the Blue Ash, OH plant is responsible for overseeing environmental programs, including the wastewater treatment system, and leading the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs. This role drives continuous improvement in EHS processes, programs, and metrics through training and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Serve as the plant Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor, responsible for oversight of the wastewater treatment system and environmental programs and processes.
  • Lead development and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs.
  • Conduct EHS training.
  • Utilize problem solving abilities to drive continuous improvement in EHS processes, programs and metrics.
  • Develop and conduct EHS training for employees, visitors, and contractors; maintain records of attendance and training program content.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining EHS programs and procedures, per regulations, Allegion requirements, or site needs.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in safety team(s) and first responder meetings.
  • Ensure prompt communication of incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions or hazards, and EHS concerns to all levels of management and shifts.
  • Lead formal incident investigations and root cause determinations and assist in corrective and preventive action implementation for all environmental and safety incidents.
  • Assist in emergency response planning, and response to emergencies.
  • Provides necessary training to emergency response personnel.
  • Schedule and facilitate emergency response drills.
  • Assist in the coordination of plant emergency response planning, coordination, training, spill response, and drills.
  • Join the first responder team; perform first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Promote the site’s early intervention process.
  • Interact with other Allegion EHS teams; engage in EHS calls and meetings, EHS Kaizens, such as events focused on ergonomic risk reduction, JSAs, machine guarding, LOTO, ASI module deployment, and other similar activities.
  • Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of EHS equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to EHS standards.
  • Report the results of environmental contaminant analyses, and recommend corrective measures to be applied.
  • Lead and support other EHS projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Keep abreast of pertinent changes and developments within the field of environmental health and safety.
  • Ensure and maintain professional development and exchange via attendance at meetings, conferences and courses.
  • Lead SIF HIT Team and oversee and coordinate implementation of corrective actions from recommendations, to reduce risk for employees.
  • Assist EHS Manager with preparation of monthly operations reports and quarterly scorecard.
  • Report out in meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain certifications as necessary.
  • Required certifications include Laser Safety Officer (LSO), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the site’s environmental programs and processes, including the site’s waste water treatment system; ensures all procedures are followed and water discharge remains in compliance.
  • Collaborate with local and corporate EHS and local leadership teams to develop and implement a strategic EHS vision, long-term EHS initiatives, and long- and short-term targets.
  • Monitor and measure environmental and sustainability performance using established metrics and KPIs to enhance EHS performance and proactively identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with local EHS and cross-functional leadership teams to integrate EHS considerations into business processes, decision-making, and long-term planning.
  • Actively participate in Gemba, MDI, and other business activities.
  • Perform risk assessments and data trend analyses; prioritize and complete risk reduction activities.
  • Monitor environmental controls and targets, ensure business compliance with corporate requirements and local and federal regulations and standards.
  • Conduct management of change reviews for program, process, and chemical changes.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections of the workplace, ensuring compliance to regulatory standards, and Allegion and local policies.
  • Track corrective action and preventive action findings to closure.
  • Steer the review of new or modified processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and chemical or physical agents; identify and control potential hazards.
  • Assist in the development of recommendations necessary to reduce risk to acceptable levels.
  • Maintain environmental record logs.
  • Compile and submit sitewide EHS metrics on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare regulatory required reports (Tier II, Form R, Title V, SPCC, etc.) and review with leadership.
  • Coordinate waste profiling and schedule timely transport of waste to offsite disposal facilities.
  • Lead and/or support projects to achieve the site’s environmental and sustainability targets.
  • Support the EHS and Facilities team, as needed, in various aspects of health, safety, and security.
  • Maintain and communicate policies and procedures to be followed by company associates in complying with environmental and occupational safety and health standards and regulations.
  • Conduct EH&S audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain appropriate files and environmental records for regulatory compliance.
  • Assist and/or lead, as necessary, environmental regulatory audits.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that can result in cost savings.
  • Be the site’s Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
  • Manage the site’s Industrial Hygiene plan.
  • Direct team leader for 3 person hourly WWTP team.
  • Develop and implement tools in the work environment designed to reduce and eliminate risks and maintain compliance with EHS regulations.
