About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Sr. Specialist- Third Shift role is an exempt level position with responsibilities for supporting the EHS programs within a commercial sterile GMP cell therapy manufacturing facility. This role will help drive strong EHS culture, maintain regulatory compliance, and support site programs, goals and performance in areas of Environmental, Health, and Safety. This role will be hands-on, working directly with production floor, laboratories, warehouse, and maintenance areas.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree required in technical discipline: Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Studies, Life Sciences, or similar field and/or equivalent experience or certification.
  • 5-7 years relevant EHS experience is required.
  • Technical knowledge in local, state, and federal regulatory requirements as well as proposed regulatory or legislative changes at all levels includes, but is not limited to, EPA, OSHA DEP, while using guidance documents from NIOSH, ACGIH, NFPA, ANSI, ISO and policies, guidelines, and industry standards as applicable.
  • Must be knowledgeable on OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard and general biosafety concepts.
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday night–Friday morning, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM or 11PM-7:30AM
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and analytical problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexible, highly motivated, with strong organization skills, ability to multitask with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability.
  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to gown into and work in a cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to utilize respiratory protection.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS is preferred.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour training is a plus.
  • Experience working in GMP and/or manufacturing facility is preferable.
  • GMP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and regulatory support for chemical handling, biosafety, facilities-related safety, hazardous and biohazardous waste, and industrial hygiene.
  • Represent EHS in site Tier meetings.
  • Conduct EHS inspections in cleanroom, warehouse, and laboratory environments. Drive closure of corrective actions.
  • Support site emergency response activities, including first aid and spill response. Maintain First Responder CPR/AED certification.
  • Support Permit to Work program and contractor safety. Ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Perform incident investigations, cause analysis, and identify corrective actions.
  • Develop and provide EHS training and toolbox talk content through instructor-led training (ILT) and computer-based trainings (CBT). Ability to effectively deliver training to diverse audiences. Support injury management program.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with waste management program.
  • Monitor KPIs and dashboards, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Follow up and drive action for near miss reporting system.
  • Maintain EHS-related records.
  • Help drive continuous improvement.
  • Works in a collaborative team setting with Plant counterparts that include Manufacturing Operations, Engineering and Facilities, and Quality.
