About The Position

Muon seeks an EHS Specialist to take full ownership of environmental, health, and safety operations across our company facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for driving end to end EHS programs, ensuring multi site regulatory compliance, and establishing proactive safety practices to keep our teams safe and the company compliant. We are seeking a self motivated professional who can independently start and complete critical safety initiatives from scratch with minimal oversight. This role requires full-time, on-site presence Monday through Friday across our Bay Area facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to reliably work on-site 5 days per week across company locations during assignment (This role does not offer a WFH option).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on EHS experience, preferably in commercial office operations, tech facilities, labs/R&D, or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record of taking full ownership of projects - starting and finishing core EHS deliverables autonomously.
  • Direct experience managing regulatory reporting platforms (such as CERS or state equivalents) and compliance credentials (EPA numbers).
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA/state standards, EPA hazardous waste rules (RCRA), local fire codes, and emergency response planning.
  • Proactively identify and resolve safety issues, taking personal accountability for solutions and follow through.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence without authority to drive safety initiatives.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain safety requirements effectively across teams.
  • This position requires access to export controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must either be (A) a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158), (B) eligible to access the export controlled information without a required export authorization, or (C) eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the required export authorization from the applicable U.S. government agency.

Nice To Haves

  • DOT/IATA or RCRA Hazardous Waste Training certification.
  • Experience creating evacuation routes using design or diagramming tools (Bluebeam, Lucidchart, AutoCAD) or managing requests via ticketing systems (Asana, Jira).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary EHS lead and point of contact supporting all of our office locations.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain core company safety plans, emergency action plans, and site specific evacuation maps across all facility locations.
  • Establish and manage the Hazardous Materials Communication (HazCom) and chemical disposal programs overseeing SDS databases, chemical inventories, waste profiling, labeling, safe storage, and vendor pickups.
  • Manage and maintain company regulatory accounts and credentials, including environmental reporting platforms (such as CERS) and federal/state EPA identification numbers.
  • Walk the floor regularly across all buildings to spot hazards, perform risk assessments, inspect chemical storage areas, and implement practical solutions to maintain continuous compliance with OSHA and local codes.
  • Lead root cause analysis for any workplace incidents, chemical spills, injuries, or near-misses, and establish long term preventative measures.
  • Partner with vendors and hazardous waste contractors for high risk work while delivering clear safety onboarding and HazCom training to internal teams.
