About The Position

IEM is currently seeking an EHS Specialist for our Surrey, B.C. location. The primary assignment for this position will be EHS support of a manufacturing facility and personnel to proactively manage risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of accountability and care throughout the organization. This position requires 100% in-office presence and does not offer remote work.

Requirements

5-10 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial or electrical environments
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field required
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
Excellent follow-through
Able to interpret regulations and implement requirements in the work environment

Nice To Haves

OFA Level 2 (minimum) highly desired
Knowledge and broad background with safety and health programs including machine guarding, LOTO, working at heights, powered industrial truck
Ability to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, create reports and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvement
Excellent incident investigation skills with proven ability to identify root and contributing causes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software systems
Capability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders while responding to questions from groups of managers, employees and the leadership team

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local EHS regulations including WorkSafeBC, Canada Labour Code, and environmental permitting requirements.
Complete risk assessments, audits, and inspections, draft reports of findings including proactive identification of hazards and implementation of robust mitigation strategies.
Identifying improvement opportunities for EHS programs; develop actionable plans that are effectively managed to completion.
Complete complex incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of EHS policies, records, inspections, and compliance reports.
Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics aligned with the EHS training matrix.
