About The Position

Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Reading, PA. In this role, you'll help lead Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security activities across the facility, partnering closely with Operations and site leadership to reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and continuously improve EHS performance. You'll also play an important role in employee training, auditing, sustainability initiatives, and creating a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field preferred, or 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and with groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of industrial equipment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues

Responsibilities

  • Champion a Safe & Healthy Workplace: Help drive the facility toward an injury-free workplace through proactive EHS leadership and employee engagement.
  • Partner with Operations to identify and reduce workplace EHS risks.
  • Support effective and responsive corrective actions following safety or environmental incidents.
  • Proactively identify and address safety risks throughout the facility.
  • Promote strong housekeeping and 5S practices across the site.
  • Support EHS Management Systems & Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Management System requirements through the Business Excellence System (BES).
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of the BES program and key EHS indicators.
  • Issue and facilitate corrective actions and assess their effectiveness.
  • Help ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and Mitsubishi Chemical Group Safety Standards.
  • Conduct raw material reviews to ensure alignment with EHS standards.
  • Lead Audits & Continuous Improvement: Participate in the site's corrective action, internal auditing, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Conduct local EHS audits, review findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate EHS activities related to operations, raw materials, and third-party audits.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and partner with departments to implement solutions.
  • Serve as a facilitator and coach for improvement teams focused on effective problem-solving.
  • Build EHS Awareness & Engagement: Provide EHS training to employees throughout the facility.
  • Facilitate EHS awareness and education across the organization.
  • Mentor teams and support improvement initiatives that strengthen safety performance.
  • Maintain a visible EHS presence through regular interaction with employees and leaders.
  • Reinforce the importance of individual and team accountability in achieving EHS objectives.
  • Drive EHS Planning & Performance: Coordinate the execution of comprehensive annual EHS plans for the Reading site.
  • Develop and communicate EHS leading indicators and performance metrics.
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities to strengthen site EHS results.
  • Partner with departments to address EHS improvement opportunities.
  • Support Americas EHS projects as assigned by the Americas EHS Manager.
  • Support Sustainability Champion KAITEKI initiatives and help drive sustainability at the site.
  • Promote responsible environmental practices and help ensure the facility remains a good environmental neighbor.
  • Support efforts that reduce environmental incidents and strengthen environmental compliance.
